There are numerous testing opportunities at Whitefield Academy. Listed below are the descriptions.

PSAT TEST


PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT I: Reasoning Test and SAT II: Writing Test. It also gives you a chance to qualify for National Merit Scholarship Corporation's (NMSC) scholarship programs.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures:

  • verbal reasoning skills
  • critical reading skills
  • math problem-solving skills
  • writing skills

PLAN TEST

As a "pre-ACT" test, PLAN is a powerful predictor of success on the ACT Assessment. At the same time, many schools recognize the importance of PLAN testing for all students, as it focuses attention on both career preparation and improving academic achievement.

EXPLORE TEST

EXPLORE® is designed to help ninth-graders explore a broad range of options for their future. The EXPLORE program prepares students not only for their high school coursework, but for their post-high school choices as well. It marks an important beginning for a student's future academic and career success.

ASVAB TEST

Your decision to enter college, technical or vocational school, military service or the civilian world-of-work is an important one. To help you make this decision, the ASVAB 18/19 Career Exploration Program provides you with:

1.       The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), a multi-aptitude test. The ASVAB helps you identify your different abilities. ASVAB scores allow you to compare your test performance to a national sample of students at your grade level.

2.      Exploring Careers: The ASVAB Workbook, which includes the Interest Finder, a self-administered interest inventory. The Workbook enables you to use your interests, ASVAB scores and personal preferences to explore over 200 civilian military occupations. The Workbook teaches you career exploration skills that you can use again and again as your career goals change throughout your life.

3.      Military Careers, a career information resource that describes about 200 enlisted and officer careers. This book has been sent to your school and typically can be found in your school's career center. Your counselor may also have a copy.

STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TEST

The Stanford Achievement Test Series, Tenth Edition, (Stanford 10) is the newest edition of one of the most respected achievement tests. To respond to the changing needs of today's educators, this new edition offers you levels of flexibility, customization, and access to information never before available with a national achievement test.

A combination of multiple-choice and open-ended subtests helps you obtain a more complete picture of both the breadth and depth of your students' educational achievement. Enhanced multiple-choice items in Stanford 10 have the following characteristics:

  • They are framed within classroom or real-life situations.
  • They often elicit actual performance from a student.
  • Many of them measure strategies or processes.
  • They integrate process with knowledge.
