Overview

Whitefield Academy is a full college preparatory program. Each segment of the school is designed to prepare students for their next academic challenge which ultimately leads them to college. This academic program is grounded in the Christian faith.

Academics in the Christian setting is not new nor is it a departure from perceived standards of education. Paul Kienel writes in his History of Christian School Education that "there are very few professions that date back 1,900 years to the first-century Christians. The early church fathers established Christian schools as a strategy to advance the church throughout the cities and towns of the Roman Empire. From that noble beginning, Christians went on to perpetuate basic literacy, often under unbelievable hardships, so that generations of young scholars could have firsthand knowledge of the Bible. Thousands of Christian school educators have literally given their lives so that we, who have been handed their torch, can offer Christian schools that prepare the young for the business of life and the purpose of eternity."

Thankfully the modern era has provided educators the opportunity to teach without fear of death. But the ministry of preparing students for life and eternity continues Whitefield Academy is a ministry of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. As such it seeks to support the ministry of the church, not replace it. In fact, there is a strong bond between church and school in the preparation of students for a life of the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Whether students are preparing to be doctors, lawyers, CEOs, business men and women or pastors and teachers - we believe that all professions are to be lived as unto the Lord (Col. 3:17).
