"Quality instruction" at Whitefield Academy implies at least two expectations: the instructional technique must be characterized by the very highest level of professionalism and the curriculum must be scripturally sound. The school's mission statement clearly expresses the desire to provide a Christ-centered education assessable by the markers of academic excellence and spiritual vitality. Whitefield's instructional program flows out of this philosophical focus in leadership, curriculum, and teacher selection.
One pillar of the instructional program is the curriculum, a portion of which is updated each year on a rotating basis (textbooks). The entire curriculum is carefully selected, and the majority of the textbooks reflect a Christian world-view. From kindergarten through 12th grade the curriculum is designed to be college preparatory.
Whitefield Academy's curriculum design assists teachers in communicating to students an understanding of contemporary issues from a Biblical worldview. In some courses, our textbooks provide Christian insights and observations. In other classes that are not exactly "Biblical" courses (mathematics, science, history, English and foreign language, fine arts, technology, etc.) our teachers present a Christian worldview through their lives and provide Biblical implementation and application both intentionally and spontaneously as opportunities present themselves. Thus faith is thoroughly integrated with instruction: students are prepared for the next level of academic achievement as Whitefield develops the students' worldview within the context of higher-order thinking skills.
